Overview
Use your passion for working with youth, along with your basic knowledge of substance use prevention theory and community capacity building, in this full-time role based in Belleville, IL. Work in schools in the St. Clair County, IL area and occasionally from home.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with school administrators to implement evidence-based strategies to middle school and high school students with a focus on preventing and reducing youth substance use. Travel to schools to teach evidence-based curriculum. Lead a youth advisory group. Implement communication campaigns. Collect and analyze data. Partner with community groups on events including National Drug Take Back Day. Share information about local resources and provide community education and awareness about substance use.
Promote the recovery model of treatment including trauma-informed care, hope, respect, empowerment, health/wellness, and spirituality/connectedness.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in education, public health, or a behavioral health-related field plus minimum 2 years’ experience OR Masters degree in BH-related field. Public speaking experience. Excellent organizational and verbal and written communication skills. Preferred: Knowledge of community-based prevention and community organizing, prevention theory and strategies, and substance use and related research. Helpful: understanding of learning styles and curriculum development. Intermediate Microsoft Office, Zoom, and online reporting software skills.Valid drivers’ license and private auto insurance. Must be insurable. Ability to travel to schools and other locations in the site plan area. Must have home internet connection. Must be able to obtain DCFS CANTS Child Abuse Clearance.
