A unique opportunity exists to join a team in creating a vibrant senior learning community on the campus of Purchase College, State University of New York. The residents of this university-based retirement community will be able to enjoy the many amenities of the college including the renowned Neuberger Museum of Art, the Performing Arts Center, the academic and athletic facilities, and the park-like campus. Job Title: Community Life Fitness Coordinator
Job Summary: We are seeking a dynamic and creative Community Life Fitness Coordinator to develop and lead both land-based fitness programs and aquatic offerings within a vibrant intergenerational community. This role features a dual focus on land-based fitness and pool management, providing the perfect opportunity for a fitness professional excited to engage residents in diverse wellness activities.

Aquatic involvement can be done from the pool deck, with no submersion required—making it an accessible way to expand your expertise while maintaining a strong emphasis on leading engaging, land-based classes.
Key Responsibilities:
Land-Based Fitness Programming:
- Develop and lead fitness classes such as yoga, strength training, dance-inspired workouts, or aerobics, tailored to older adults and residents of all fitness levels.
- Create fun, engaging routines that foster health, joy, and well-being, and encourage residents to maintain an active lifestyle.
- Collaborate with the Community Life team to align fitness programming with community values, integrating wellness events, fitness challenges, and themed activities.
- Inspire participation by promoting creative fitness opportunities and building strong connections with residents through movement.
Aquatics Programming & Pool Management:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the pool, ensuring it remains a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all users.
- Manage pool staff and schedules, ensuring proper coverage for supervision and compliance with health and safety standards.
- Lead or coordinate aquatic fitness classes that offer options for all fitness levels, conducting classes from the pool deck with no submersion required.
- Integrate aquatic activities into the broader wellness framework, creating opportunities for residents to engage in water-based fitness and recreation.
Collaboration & Community Engagement:
- Work closely with the Community Life team to design programs that reflect the interests and needs of an intergenerational environment.
- Participate in wellness workshops, collaborative projects, and community events.
- Foster a positive, inclusive environment that encourages engagement, connection, and fun between residents, staff, and students.
Schedule:
- Days: Tuesday through Saturday
- Hours: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Qualifications:
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in liberal arts, fitness, health sciences, or a related field.
- Required: Background in fitness, dance, or cultural arts.
- Required: CPR certification (must be obtained by the time of hire).
- Preferred: Experience leading group fitness classes.
- Not Required: Aquatics experience (willingness to learn pool management and aquatic programming is essential).
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with a passion for building community and fostering meaningful connections.
- A desire to work with older adults and contribute to a thriving, intergenerational community.
