Community Newspaper Editor
A growing newspaper group in Havana, Florida is seeking a talented and experienced Editor to oversee the content of several weekly newspapers. The ideal candidate will have a passion for journalism, a strong understanding of local news, and excellent writing and editing skills.
Responsibilities:
- Assign, write, edit, and proofread news articles, features, and columns
- Manage editorial calendars and deadlines
- Oversee the production of newspapers from start to finish
- Collaborate with reporters, photographers, and designers
- Build and maintain relationships with community members and local businesses
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in journalism, preferably in a newsroom setting
- Strong knowledge of AP style and grammar
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Familiarity with newspaper production software (e.g., In Design, Photoshop) is a plus
