Opportunity overview:
As a vital representative of Hoosier Hills Credit Union (HHCU), the Community Relations Partner will embody a genuine passion for community engagement and relationship building. This role is central to advancing the HHCU mission and demonstrating service leadership.
The Community Relations Partner will strategically develop and implement a comprehensive, organization-wide approach to community engagement. Key responsibilities include advancing our Pledge 1% philanthropic initiatives and managing community development programs across our entire footprint.

By actively cultivating relationships, this role will help further our mission and promote a culture of community support and engagement.
What You’ll Do:
Community Engagement
- Relationship Building: Build and maintain connections with key community stakeholders, including chambers of commerce, civic groups, and schools.
- Collaboration: Work with government entities and nonprofits to create a positive community impact.
- Advocacy: Develop presentations and strategies to raise awareness of HHCU and support organizational goals.
Pledge 1% Program Leadership
- Strategic Vision: Create a strategic plan to promote Pledge 1% initiatives and enhance visibility. https://pledge1percent.org/
- Relationship Management: Build connections with community foundations and manage volunteer opportunities and charitable donations.
- Marketing Collaboration: Partner with marketing and communication teams to develop campaigns that engage Team Members and facilitate the annual Pay It Forward Scholarships for high school seniors.
Financial Education & Wellness
- Outreach Planning: Plan and execute financial education initiatives aligned with strategic goals for Members and prospective Members.
- Program Development: Identify and recommend programs to establish HHCU as a leader in financial literacy.
- Partnerships: Collaborate with local organizations to expand financial wellness programs, coordinating education for youth and adults in various formats.
Culture, Leadership, and Member Experience
- Cultural Promotion: Promote HHCU’s culture and core values through community engagement and active participation in events.
- Public Relations Strategy: Develop strategies to enhance Member engagement and recognition within the credit union industry.
- Trend Awareness: Stay informed on trends in community engagement and volunteerism, providing insights and coordinating appreciation events.
Marketing and Administrative Responsibilities
- Marketing Collaboration: Work with Marketing teams to create targeted materials and campaigns.
- Volunteer Coordination: Manage volunteer efforts and promotional items for community events.
- Communication: Write and distribute news releases related to community and public relations efforts.
- Generate Community Interest: Collect and share Member and community stories for quarterly newsletters.
What We’re Looking For:
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree, equivalent experience considered.
Experience: 3 to 5 years leading nonprofit or community development programs; credit union and/or community bank experience preferred.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication abilities with a collaborative mindset.
Initiative Management: Proven capability to develop, launch, and manage large initiatives.
Travel Availability: Willingness to travel regularly (non-overnight) across our footprint, with mileage reimbursement included.
Presentation Skills: Ability to write and deliver clear, concise presentations to diverse audiences.
Organizational Skills: Strong initiative, along with excellent organizational, time management, and project management skills.
Emotional Intelligence: Approachable, aware, authentic, polished, and confident in interactions.
Grant Knowledge: Familiarity with standards and regulations related to federal grants and funding for community and economic development is a plus.
