Direct Support Professionals provides support for people living in their own apartments or homes who require 1-40 hours of staffing support per week. This person-centered service is intended to support people to live as independently as possible to pursue their dreams and experience the joys and challenges of everyday life. Supports are flexible in response to the growing and changing demands of each person’s interests and well-being.

Responsibilities:Direct Support Professionals are responsible for providing services to our program participants living in their own apartment or home in the community. The Direct Support Professionals help enable the individuals to enjoy community events, attend medical appointments, and manage their needs. Services may include assistance with menu planning, financial management, health care planning, adult companionship, and leisure time planning. Direct Support Professionals may provide transportation and accompany individuals on appointments. This position works within a multidisciplinary team following all support plans and is responsible for accurate documentation. Successful completion of medical administration training is required.
Direct Support Professionals are provided a paid New Employee Orientation and receive training on CPR/First Aid, Safety Care, Defensive Driving, and Medication Administration. Comprehensive program-specific training at the work site is also provided.

Qualifications:Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Driver’s License & Good Driving Record
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Physical demands: sitting, pushing, pulling, carrying, grasping, speaking, listening, stooping, crouching, bending, standing, twisting, crawling, walking, and climbing. Requires a normal degree of flexibility; ability to walk, run or shuffle, kneel on one or two knees and then stand up; to utilize upper and lower body strength within weight restrictions; may be required to lift up to fifty (50) pounds or more with assistance.
