- JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE
- Responsible for routine employee pay and position data maintenance. Assists with special compensation data projects as assigned. Provides support and assistance for other compensation and benefits functions as assigned.
- DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
- As part of the Human Resources team, the Compensation department provides centralized management of compensation and benefits programs that enable SHS to be market competitive and meet compliance and equity objectives. The Compensation team provides professional and knowledgeable guidance and support to management, other HR functions and employees in the orientation, implementation and equitable administration of compensation and benefits. The team is also responsible for the job description function and for delivering performance management tools to assist in developing talent within the organization.
- EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate degree or equivalent experience required.
- Two (2) years in a professional office environment with a focus on customer service, including one (1) year of human resources required.
- Experience in Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Excel, required.
- Prior compensation, payroll, or accounting experience preferred.
- KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
- Human Resources - Possess knowledge and ability to interpret and apply human resources policies, procedures, practices, programs, Federal/State employment laws, labor contracts, and employment agreements.
- Confidentiality - Ensures confidentiality of employee and protected health information. Ability to use discretion when processing and handling sensitive human resources issues.
- Communication - Effective written and verbal communication skills to perform group presentations, tactfully discuss issues, and listen to and understand complex information/situations. Ability to work with all levels within the organization, facilitate communication, and effectively document related activities.
- Computer Literacy - Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office and data management tools.
- Problem Solving - Ability to identify complex problems, analyze related information, employ creativity and alternative thinking to develop and evaluate options, build consensus and implement effective solutions. Skilled in information gathering and critical thinking.
- Time Management - Ability to organize, plan and prioritize work to complete within required time frames and to follow-up on pending issues. Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and thrive in dynamic fast-paced environments and under pressure.
- Mathematics - Knowledge of mathematics, including algebra, and their applications.
