Key Responsibilities:
The Complex Controller will oversee the financial operations of two hotel locations, ensuring the financial health and integrity of the organization. Your expertise will be crucial in the following areas:
- Financial Operations Management: Oversee accounting functions, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance for two hotel properties.
- Financial Statement Preparation: Prepare and review financial statements for hotel properties, ensuring timely corporate consolidation and reporting.
- Performance Improvement: Regularly monitor and analyze financial performance, utilizing myDigitaloffice to provide feedback and suggest adjustments to leadership teams.
- Purchasing Processes: Review and implement purchasing opportunities across properties to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
- Labor Analysis: Develop Paychex labor analysis and productivity reports to help manage payroll and other expenses effectively.
- Payroll Oversight: Manage the review, approval, and processing of payroll, ensuring compliance with union agreements.
- Tax Compliance: Verify and file monthly sales, occupancy, and other taxes, as well as manage medical benefits and insurance for hotel properties.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all corporate and hotel contractual documents, as well as statutory and fiscal reporting requirements.
- Account Reconciliations: Review and approve monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations, providing support for reconciling items and journal entries.
- Staff Supervision: Supervise staff accountants across all complex hotels, providing clear direction and communication.
- Financial Planning: Coordinate monthly credit meetings and prepare annual budgets and forecasts with detailed variance analysis.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance is required, along with a minimum of five years of relevant accounting experience.
- Familiarity with hotel operations, particularly in a centralized environment managing multiple properties, is highly preferred.
- A CPA certification is an advantage.
- General accounting system knowledge is essential; experience with Opera, OnQ, M3 Accounting System, Aloha POS, or Paychex is a plus.
- Proficiency in Excel and Outlook is required.
