Full Job Description
The Cannabis Compliance Analyst is responsible for ensuring that all aspects of cannabis operations adhere to state and federal regulations. This role involves monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on compliance issues, as well as developing and implementing compliance programs to ensure the company meets all legal and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of cannabis laws and, inventory auditing/analysis, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively across various departments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- METRC Management: Manage and ensure accuracy in using the METRC (Marijuana Enforcement Tracking Reporting Compliance) system to track cannabis inventory and sales.
- Regulatory Monitoring: Stay up-to-date with state and federal cannabis regulations, including changes in laws, rules, and guidelines. Ensure that the company remains compliant with all applicable regulations.
- Compliance Audits: Conduct regular audits of internal processes, procedures, and documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Identify areas of risk and recommend corrective actions.
- Discrepancy Investigation: Investigate and resolve discrepancies in inventory, records, and compliance data. Develop action plans to prevent future discrepancies and ensure accuracy.
- Variance Reporting: Report variances identified during audits and inventory checks, and prepare actionable deliverables to address and correct these variances.
- Policy Development: Assist in the creation, implementation, and maintenance of company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with cannabis regulations.
- Training and Education: Develop and deliver training programs to employees on compliance-related topics, ensuring that staff are informed and knowledgeable about current laws and company policies.
- Incident Reporting: Investigate and report any compliance-related incidents or violations. Work with management to develop action plans to address and prevent future occurrences.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and detailed records of all compliance activities, audits, and reports. Prepare and submit required regulatory reports in a timely manner.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, such as operations, distribution, and human resources, to ensure that compliance is integrated into all aspects of the business.
- Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments to identify potential compliance issues and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
- Licensing: Assist in applying, renewing, and managing all necessary cannabis business licenses.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Knowledge of Cannabis Regulations: In-depth understanding of state and federal cannabis regulations and compliance requirements.
- METRC Knowledge: Must have a strong working knowledge of METRC (Marijuana Enforcement Tracking Reporting Compliance) system.
- Dutchie Knowledge: Must have experience with Dutchie platform, including its use for cannabis product tracking, sales, and compliance.
- Auditing and Discrepancy Investigation: Must have experience in conducting audits and investigating discrepancies within inventory and compliance data.
- Variance Reporting and Actionable Deliverables: Must have experience in reporting variances and preparing actionable deliverables to address these variances.
- Compliance Communication and Regulations: Must have experience in compliance, city, and state communication, and regulations specific to the state of Missouri (MO).
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex regulations and apply them to business operations.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all aspects of work, particularly in documentation and reporting.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, prioritize work effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Confidentiality: Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
- Proficiency in Software: Familiarity with METRC, Dutchie, and other cannabis-specific compliance software, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Team Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with various stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- 2-4 years of experience in compliance, regulatory affairs, or a related field, preferably within the cannabis industry.
- Must have experience with METRC and Dutchie platforms.
- Must have experience in auditing, discrepancy investigation, and variance reporting.
- Must have experience in compliance, city, and state communication, and regulations specific to the state of Missouri (MO).
- Must be at least 21 years of age and authorized to work in the U.S.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing regulatory landscapes.
Salary:
- $50,000 - $60,000 annually
