The Nexus Water Group team has an opportunity for a Compliance and Safety Manager based in Altamonte Springs, FL. Assures safety program and related requirements, as outlined in the Corix Safety Manual, are in compliance for all employees and facilities located within the state.
What you'll do
- Develop and administers compliance process to ensure all water and wastewater facilities are operating in compliance with local, state and federal regulation and associated documentation is complete and accurate.
- Coordinate all safety and compliance initiatives with Regional Vice President, Regional Director, Corporate Safety &Compliance Coordinator and managers.
- Coordinate and conduct annual facility safety inspections and follow-ups, with the assistance of managers.
- Follow-up on all non-compliance advisories to address the specific issue and any underlying issues.
- Validate that each area conducts a monthly, one hour safety meeting for all employees.
- Perform facility safety inspections on all newly acquired facilities and properties.
- Provide inspection reports to the RD and CSCC.
- Track compliance with hazard corrections.
- Ensure that correct PPE for all job tasks are provided with associated training.
- Investigate accidents and injuries; recommends methods to avoid re-occurrence.
- Confirm that drivers comply with all safety regulations.
- Ensure that quarterly vehicle inspections forms are completed by all employees issued a fleet vehicle.
- Ensure safety committees are meeting and assist when needed.
- Perform employee job safety observations as needed.
- Maintain compliance with applicable OSHA Standards.
- Monitor monthly DMRs and all water results for compliance issues.
- Negotiate and track consent orders and compliance schedules to assure their timely completion and closure.
- Provide reports to senior management to demonstrate compliance assurance.
- Maintain files on NOVs, inspection reports, etc. for all facilities and company response.
- Responsible for distribution of annual CCRs and any customer notifications regarding water quality.
- Perform local safety inspections and training.
- Act as liaison to Corporate Safety & Compliance Coordinator to implement standardized practices, policies and procedures.
- Conduct or ensures that managers conduct New Employee Safety Orientations for all new hires prior to entering the workplace.
- Assist managers with general and specific security concerns.
- Ensure that all documentation regarding safety program is completed and filed.
- Collect and file attendance forms.
Who you are
Experience
- 3-5 years experience in water/wastewater utility business. Knowledge and understanding of federal OSHA regulations and requirements.
Education and Certifications
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
- Valid driver's license.
Nice to Have
- Operator certification in water and wastewater preferred.
- Experience and/or in-depth knowledge related to the field operations and maintenance of a water utility organization preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong communication skills, including public speaking.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills and ability to work efficiently and effectively without direct supervision.
- Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner and gathers and analyzes information skillfully.
- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
