Title: Compliance Specialist
Type: 6-month contract-to-hire
Locations***: Corpus Christi, TX or Shreveport, LA or Columbus, OH or Roanoke, VA
***Candidates will be expected to work onsite 2 DAYS per MONTH from one of these locations. Travel costs will be reimbursed by client.
NERC CIP is not required. MANAGER WILL CONSIDER ANY TYPE OF REGULATORY COMPLIANCE EXPERIENCE.
Project Summary:
Assist in ensuring that the NERC CIP compliance standards are applied to the Energy Delivery Operations (EDOps) business unit by collaborating with process experts and our client's business unit partners. Develop, maintain, and perform EDOps internal controls and processes for access and system account management, change and configuration management, protection of information, network management and vulnerability management. The position will have an emphasis on the development of NERC CIP related controls for the EDOps business unit as well as development of a quality process to ascertain considerations of design and effectiveness for the aforementioned controls.

Principal Accountabilities:
- Perform tasks required to ensure compliance with the North American Electric Reliability Council (NERC) reliability standards applicable to our client. The tasks required vary widely relative to the standards measures, as such; tasks would be assigned to make best use of the successful candidate's background. These tasks would be principally related to processes, procedures, and controls developed to comply with the applicable NERC suite of standards.
This includes:
- Validating report data against approval lists.
- Generating reports to save as audit evidence.
- Collaborating with other business units to compile and validate evidence.
- Controls Inspection
- Assist the Energy Delivery Operations CIP Manager to ensure that reliability standards strategy, documentation, and associated evidence are aligned and consistent with our client's policy and strategy.
- Collaborate with other Transmission Organizations, Commercial Operations, Generation and Corporate incompliance monitoring and tracking.
- Maintain systems to track/monitor compliance with the NERC reliability standards.
- Ensure that appropriate processes are in place to track/monitor newly developed standards.
- Ensure that appropriate evidence is captured to meet compliance requirements, including approvals.
- Review developing standards to enhance the monitoring and tracking of NERC reliability compliance standards and facilitate record keeping of evidence associated with said standards.
- Participate in periodic audits performed by the RROs to assess our client's compliance with the full range of NERC reliability standards; assist in performing internal audits.
- Assess the design and effectiveness of controls pertaining to NERC CIP compliance and develop corresponding testing templates.
Education Requirements:
- Associates degree in business administration, computer science, engineering, or related field, or
- High School Diploma / GED and two (2) years of experience in compliance and/or Information Technology.
Minimum Requirements:
- Three (3) years of experience in addition to any experience noted above
- Any type of Regulatory Compliance experience.
- Knowledge of IT (servers, firewalls, networks, access management)
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, v-lookups)
- Candidate should be motivated and willing to learn a new subject matter.
- Demonstrate the highest standards of ethical behavior and support the Company's Corporate Compliance policy.
- Strong skills in communication, issue resolution, organization, and facilitation are essential.
- Solid understanding of the business unit / operating company systems is preferred.
- Ability to perform detailed tasks and investigate events.
Desired/Preferred (not required):
- Associate degree is preferred
- Experience with SCADA systems
- Experience with Cyber/IT related internal controls including testing, design, and process walkthroughs
- Basic SQL querying skills
- Patch management, change management systems and other access management tools
- Regulatory NERC CIP
- Ability to distill information and present to leadership in a visual report using PowerPoint, Excel and/or other software tools.
