Job Summary:
The Compliance Specialist reports to the Compliance Coordinator and will work with assigned projects to ensure compliance by the company with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies and procedures. This role requires a working knowledge of consumer financial protection laws and regulations. Knowledge and experience in healthcare and/or collection regulations desired.
Essential Duties of the Position:
- Primary duty is to provide coordination and oversite of the company’s consumer dispute management program and processes including:
- Oversee and manage any consumer complaints, with appropriate investigations, responses and filings through to final disposition.
- Ensure data furnishing processes to the credit reporting agencies comply with established Metro2 reporting guidelines
- Conduct ongoing audits, reviews and analyze exceptions to make recommendations to enhance internal controls and/or improve efficiencies
- Create clear and accurate written reports summarizing testing findings and effectively communicate testing results to management
- Ensure compliance with all dispute management related state and federal regulatory requirements (FCRA, FDCPA, CFPB, FTC, HIPAA, etc.)
- Review existing and proposed legislation and regulations, regulatory announcements, and industry periodicals to assess applicability and impact to the company
- Reviews and assists in maintaining compliance related policies and procedures
- Assist in the implementation and training of new processes, rules or regulations
- Work with the Collections departments to develop and communicate/train updates to consumer disputes and other collection practices to ensure compliance and quality customer service.
- Management and oversight of assigned third-party vendors.
- Works closely with manager and other colleagues to provide continuous improvement strategies and measurements.
- Contribute to special projects as assigned
- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- Previous compliance experience required.
- Collections and/or healthcare compliance experience.
- Knowledge of CFPB rules and regulations as well as regulations promulgated by applicable regulatory agencies (FDCPA, FCRA, HIPAA, Reg V, TCPA) a plus.
- Ability to interpret and communicate regulatory guidance.
- Demonstrate an understanding and adherence to policies, procedures, and industry relevant laws.
- Plan the scope of assigned projects.
- Strong project-management skills with a proven ability to coordinate across departments and functions.
- Proven ability to draft procedures and evaluate internal controls.
- Excellent organization and customer service skills
- Excellent written and verbal business communication skills
Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Word and Excel
SharePoint experience a plus
Post-secondary education required
1 – 3 years relevant experience required
Must be able to speak/write English clearly and proficiently
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation:
- Competitive salary and benefits - starting salary range $58,000 - $72,000 DOE
- Potential for hiring bonus for the right candidate.
- The right candidate will have the opportunity for a pathway for upward mobility within the Compliance Department.
This is primarily an in-office position, with the opportunity to establish some remote/at-home work hours.
