We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Permanent Comptroller to join our team in the energy industry. The ideal candidate will be a proactive and strategic financial leader with a proven track record in financial planning, reporting, and analysis. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all fiscal and fiduciary responsibilities for the organization, in conjunction with the executive team and the board of directors. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned financial professional to contribute to our company's financial health and growth.
Responsibilities:
1. Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
2. Maintain internal control safeguards and coordinate all audit activities.
3. Prepare and analyze closing journal entries and support month-end review.
4. Manage cash flow planning process and ensure funds availability.
5. Oversee cash, investments, and asset management area.
6. Explore new investment opportunities and provide recommendations on potential returns and risks.
7. Supervise finance staff and manage their performance and development goals.
8. Coordinate the development and monitoring of budgets.
9. Develop financial business plans and forecasts.
10. Participate in corporate policy development as a member of the senior management team.
11. Engage the finance committee of the board of directors to develop short, medium, and long-term financial plans and projections.
12. Represent the company to financial partners, including financial institutions, investors, auditors, public officials, etc.
13. Remain up to date on audit best practices and state and federal law regarding company operations.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required. An MBA or related advanced degree is a plus.
2. Active CPA License is a must.
3. Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management roles, with experience in the energy sector being a strong advantage.
4. Proven experience in financial planning, reporting, and analysis.
5. Proficiency in preparing and analyzing closing journal entries and supporting month-end review.
6. Strong experience in budgeting, forecasting, annual budgets, and quarterly forecasts.
7. Ability to complete complex balance sheets.
8. Experience in a senior financial-management role, partnering with executive staff, resulting in the development and implementation of creative financial management strategies.
9. Significant experience in or knowledge of nonprofit accounting, including sophisticated fund and grant accounting, compliance, and reporting.
10. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
11. Demonstrated leadership ability, team management, and interpersonal skills.
12. Excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills, plus excellent organization skills.
