Job Title: Computational Scientist – Cancer Immunogenomics
Job Location: South San Francisco, CA
Job Duration: 12+ Months Contract
The Oncology Bioinformatics team in gRED Computational Sciences (gCS) is seeking a
talented and highly motivated Computational Scientist (Contract) with a strong
background in computational biology and/or cancer immunology. He/She will support
personalized cancer immunotherapy research. The successful candidate will have a
proven track record in bioinformatics, data science and/or data engineering, preferably
in MHC genomics, target and neoantigen discovery and selection.
Position Details:
This will be a full-time contract position for an initial period of 1 year, with the possibility
of extension. This position is onsite or hybrid in the Pacific time zone.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain bioinformatics and data infrastructure for research projects related to individualized cancer immunotherapy
- Collaborate with computational biologists, AI scientists and engineers
- Maintain excellent documentation, and data analysis practices to ensure reproducible data science
- Present findings to the Cancer Immunogenomics group and collaborators.
Requirements:
- PhD (or Master's with significant experience) in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in data and bioinformatics infrastructure (including curation, databases and workflows), particularly for AI/ML projects
- Solid understanding of the relevant concepts in cancer immunology and enthusiasm for learning more
- Broad understanding of data generated from one or more molecular assays: next generation sequencing platforms, ELIspot, mass spectrometry etc.
- Proficiency in R, Python, and shell scripting.
- Experience working with Git and high-performance computing.
- High self-motivation and commitment to delivering high-quality results.
- Excellent communication skills
- Experience working as part of multiple high-performance teams
- Preferable experience in complex data analysis and/or modeling in MHC genomics and/or cancer immunology, particularly in cancer vaccine and cell therapy research.
- Preferable experience in AI/ML and/or statistical modeling
