Work arrangement:
- Onsite only.
- W2 position; 12 months with the possibility of extension
- Night shift position, 6 pm – 6 am, including weekends and holidays.
- The Computer Operator monitors, tests, maintains and repairs network and infrastructure elements for the agency’s Information Technology Center.
- Monitors the agency’s network, server, and application elements, resolves incidents and service requests and/or consults with the Subject Matter Expert team for incident resolution. Applies simple state-of-the-art technology to meet and improve network control center.
- Configures network and system resources and maintains corresponding system records and documentation. Provides Tier II support as per SME agreements. Performs periodic maintenance and monitoring of computer systems. performs pre-configured port activations on network switches.
- Prepares and reviews documentation for use in operations for training and knowledge base. Participates in training and cross training for the Tier II. Provides customer service for all information and/or telecommunication network systems support areas.
- Monitors mainframe, applications and batch processing. Responds to issues, alerts, incidents, tickets and resolve incidents and service requests and/or consults with the Subject Matter Expert team for incident resolution. Meets agreed SLA time requirements.
- IP network troubleshooting
- DNS configuration
- Understanding of monitoring tools (Splunk and SolarWinds)
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Server batch scripting
- Technical writing experience
- Scripting language experience
- Understanding of computer and network operating system fundamentals (e.g., operating systems, applications, storage, networking)
- Knowledge of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, HTTP, NTP, DNS, MLLP, NDM
- Leadership skills
- Strong customer service
- Self-management
- Web programming
