A day in the life of a Computer Systems Administrator II:
The Computer Systems Administrator II plays a crucial role in maintaining, upgrading and configuring operating systems. Reporting to the Computer and Network Systems Manager, the position operates autonomously, being motivated to support multiple projects simultaneously. The principal activities of this role include supporting multiple systems, upgrading existing software, documenting and reporting configurations, providing support and training, and working with vendors on technical issues and projects. This role occasionally works at the summit to support a mentality of “safely on sky every night.” The ideal candidate will be able to handle diverse tasks and have a passion for learning new technologies.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Required Qualifications
· Possess a minimum of four (4) years’ experience performing Windows desktop and server configuration/administration.
· Experience in supporting Exchange 2010 or Exchange 365 and Outlook; understand SMTP.
· Experience in configuring and managing TCP/IP networks.
· Understands Internet services and how they function.
· Experience with Active Directory, DNS and Domain Controller concepts and technologies.
· Proven ability to evaluate technologies and make recommendations.
· Familiar with disaster recovery concepts.
· Flexibility to work varying schedules including nights, weekends and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
· Experience with VMware.
· Experience with Mitel VOIP Systems.
· Experience with scripting languages.
· Familiar with Linux or UNIX Operating Systems and applications.
· Familiar with audio visual and teleconferencing equipment.
Windows certifications.
