Summary
The Lateral Conflicts Analyst is responsible for conducting the preliminary analysis and research for the identification and subsequent resolution of any potential conflicts issues confronted during the lateral hire process for all incoming staff members, associates, and partners. Using the firm’s internal conflicts database and external corporate research resources, the Lateral Conflicts Analyst will prepare conflicts of interest reports that allow Conflicts Staff Attorneys (CSA) to identify any potential conflicts or business issues prior to on boarding a lateral associate or partner. Under the supervision of the Lateral Conflicts Supervisor, the Lateral Conflicts Analyst will also assist in the review and clearance of non-legal lateral hires. Additionally, the Lateral Conflicts Analyst will also assist in the maintenance of the firm’s prior work history database and will play a critical role in ensuring the standardization and integrity of data and information gathering during the lateral hire process.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform initial review of lateral conflicts forms and work with CSA’s and new hires to obtain accurate party information aimed at improving the quality and quantity of information stored in the database.
- Compile conflicts reports that incorporate research and analysis from the firm’s internal conflicts database and external corporate research tools.
- Review conflicts reports for lateral partners and remove false hits based on external corporate research findings.
- Collaborate with Lateral Conflicts Supervisor and CSA to provide lateral sponsoring partners with clear and concise summaries of required steps to resolve and address any potential conflicts during the lateral hire process.
- Compile reports for prior client/matters worked on by departing attorneys.
- Review legal staff resumes and conflicts forms and submit clearance emails for recruiters and sponsoring partners.
- Coordinate the creation and maintenance of prior work history files in the firm’s internal database.
- Assist in conducting corporate research and compiling information for potentially transitioning clients accompanying a lateral hire.
- Performs various special projects and duties as assigned.
Washington D.C. Applicants: Salaries may vary by location. In Washington D.C., the estimated target salary range of this role is $69,000 - $100,000 in addition to bonus eligibility and a comprehensive benefit package, including healthcare. Salary determinations are made based on numerous factors, such as, but not limited to, the relevant market and the skill, experience, class or graduation year, and education of the selected candidate.

Education and/or Experience:
Required:
- Associates or Bachelor’s Degree
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant research or analytical experience in a legal, professional services or academic environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
Preferred:
- Conflicts or compliance experience at large law firm
- Database Research Experience and/or experience with corporate research resources (including CapitalIQ, Hoovers/Dunn & Bradstreet and/or Bureau van Dijk)
- Experience with Conflicts Search and/or Risk Management applications (including Elite, Intapp Open and/or Intapp Walls)
