Job Overview:
The Construction Accountant will oversee and manage the financial operations specific to construction projects. This includes job costing, budgeting, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, particularly in construction or related industries, and be able to provide accurate and timely financial information to support project and management decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage financial reporting, including preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
- Oversee job costing, ensuring accuracy in cost allocations and tracking
- Collaborate with project managers to prepare and maintain project budgets
- Handle accounts payable and receivable specific to construction projects
- Reconcile bank accounts and monitor cash flow
- Prepare and submit financial documents required for bonding, insurance, and licensing
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies
- Assist with audits and liaise with external auditors
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure timely invoicing
- Analyze financial performance and make recommendations for cost-saving measures
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in construction accounting or a similar role
- Strong understanding of job costing, WIP (work in progress), and GAAP principles
- Experience in public or audit is a nice to have as well
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred:
- Familiarity with construction management software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend)
- Experience in budgeting and financial analysis within the construction industry
- SAGE 300 experience is preferred
Pay $35 - $40 per hr.
