We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.
Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined below will be considered for this opportunity.
At this time, Dominion Energy cannot transfer or sponsor a work visa or employment authorization for this position.
This position does not offer relocation assistance.
Job Summary
The Construction Contracts Specialist will be, for each assigned construction project, responsible for ensuring the cost-effective and timely management of engineering and construction related procurement contracts. Working with the project team, legal and supply chain management, the successful candidate also will ensure the timely development of such contracts, to include being a key member on negotiation teams that develop complex engineering, procurement, and construction (“EPC”) agreements with large construction suppliers. Initial support will be for the construction of distribution-scale solar projects in Virginia and procurement of Engineering Services.
The successful candidate may be temporarily assigned to construction project sites if needs dictate.
Additional functions will include the following:
- Participate in development of new EPC Contracts as a subject matter expert.
- Process change orders in a timely manner.
- Maintain contract change logs; copies of all relevant contracting documents; controlled copies of all major contracts; contract deliverables tracking spreadsheets; and purchase order reports.
- Participate in monthly financial meetings by providing updates on pending change orders, expiring purchase orders, and other contractual issues.
- Ensure contractual milestones and obligations are met in a timely manner.
- Draft notices as needed.
- Prepare and provide reports for management that monitor contract status and overall contract performance.
- Assist the project team in the development of quality requisitions, and field change orders.
- Where applicable, assist in resolving (i) contractual disputes and (ii) change orders in a timely and efficient manner, to include the appropriate interfaces with legal.
- Assist in the (i) resolution of billing issues; (ii) negotiation and coordination of supplier performance and financial securities; and (iii) interpretation of contract language.
- Track diversity spend for all major contracts.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
Qualified candidates will possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Considerable related work experience (2+ years minimum) dealing with contractors, integrated suppliers, engineering firm and performing Document Control functions.
- Ideal candidates will possess knowledge of purchasing laws and practices; working knowledge of business and contract law; and sound understanding of procurement principles and negotiation techniques and strategies. Candidates with SAP, EPC agreement, engineering services and utility construction experience are highly preferred.
- The successful candidate must be willing to travel, work in both home and field office settings, and be temporarily assigned to different project sites.
- Strong Math, Computer and Analytical Skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines and use good business judgement
- Additional Skills, Knowledge and Abilities preferred: Solid experience using Aconex software
- Office Environment and/or Construction project site work schedule may depend on work needed during project.
- Ability to work effectively in teams and successfully communicate with multiple levels within the organization.
Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications. The company is actively seeking United States military veterans and service members who meet the qualifications.
