About the Job
FHU is seeking a team leader with a strong transportation construction background and an entrepreneurial spirit, with an interest in being a champion for the growth of our municipal construction management services in the market areas served by our Omaha office. The leader we are seeking will be responsible for leading our Great Plains Region construction management services and managing a staff of construction inspectors and engineers. The candidate must have demonstrated success in the day-to-day management of transportation construction projects, supervision of construction inspection staff and managing project budgets. The ability to perform marketing and business development to support FHU’s strategic plan for regional growth is required.
Duties and Responsibilities
Primary duties and responsibilities are listed below; other duties may be assigned.
- Capability to serve as the resident project engineer in charge of the day-to-day administration of construction projects acting as an Owner’s representative.
- Capability to be responsible and in charge of multiple projects and leading staff to deliver multiple projects.
- Technical competency to understand project design intent and to respond to contractor requests for information.
- Provide enforcement of the requirements of construction contracts including conducting inspections and being in responsible charge of others performing inspections.
- Analyze technical problems and engineering solutions.
- Manage and mentor junior construction staff, and support staff’s career development.
- Participate in marketing efforts to further establish construction management services in the Great Plains market.
- Strong understanding of local construction administration practices.
Requirements
Education and/or Experience
- Professional Engineer licensure current in Nebraska, or ability to obtain within six months of date of hire.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field from an accredited four-year college.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience performing construction phase project administration and inspection work on state transportation or municipal public works construction projects in a position of responsibility for construction projects.
- Experience administering projects with federal or state funding.
- Highly desirable experience includes working on construction projects as a Project Engineer or Assistant Project Engineer.
The pay for this position has a range of $120,000 - $165,000 annually. The actual offer will carefully consider a range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, and experience.
