Job Title: Civil Engineer
Salary: $85-110k - based on experience
Qualifications:
• Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited 4-year college or university.
• Preferred completion of P.E. certification.
• Demonstrated 5-10 years of experience as a Resident Engineer or Construction Engineer within the municipal engineering field.
• Certification in IDOT Documentation.
• Proficiency in written and oral communication.
• Familiarity with computer software including ICORS, Microsoft Office, and AutoCAD.
Responsibilities will include:
• Conducting inspections on various municipal engineering improvement projects.
a. Efficient coordination with residents, businesses, and other stakeholders affected by construction projects.
b. Reviewing the Contractor’s dynamic construction schedule.
c. Implementing minor plan changes onsite.
d. Drafting and preparing construction notification letters.
e. Maintaining a project diary and daily inspection log in accordance with IDOT general requirements.
• Handling construction documentation.
a. Tracking all quantities related to each pay item.
b. Conducting yield checks on all materials.
c. Establishing and managing progress payment schedules.
d. Developing and verifying payment requests.
e. Ensuring all documentation substantially adheres to IDOT standards.
f. Inspecting construction to ensure compliance with plans.
• Coordinating with Utility Companies.
• Organizing and leading pre-construction meetings, and preparing meeting minutes.
• Coordinating projects with various entities such as business districts, park districts, and schools.
• Liaising with permit agencies as necessary (e.g., MWRD & IDOT).
• Conducting construction layout and staking.
• Utilizing one-man and two-man total stations for acquiring topographic data.
