Responsibilities:
What you'll be challenged to do:
Gannett Fleming TranSystems is seeking a Construction Intern to join our Lisle, IL team for the Summer of 2025. This role will be responsible for assisting project engineers and project managers with design and administrative tasks as well as help with a variety of projects encompassing several different aspects of civil engineering. Our transportation specialists, located in offices across the nation, are unparalleled in the knowledge of the movement of freight and people, and unmatched in technical and managerial services. We provide full-scale professional services to both public and private sector transportation clients. Our Engineering Co-ops will work within our highway, structural, rail and construction divisions. This role with offer the ability to actively interact with our teams as we work develop plans, designs and construct for our clients in various disciplines including states and municipalities, freight railroad, passenger rail and transit, airports and air carriers, and federal government projects.
- Assist in Inspection of contract pay items.
- Assist in Material Inspection of contract pay items.
- Provide daily diary information.
- Measure and document contract pay items.
- Attend meetings.
- Gain exposure to design process, from concept to construction.
- Individual is flexible and may work with numerous project teams to help in project completion.
- Maintain neat and orderly work area that will allow access to project information to other team members.
- Actively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.
- Assignments of increasing difficulty will be submitted as proficiency is increased.
What you bring to our firm:
- Candidate must be pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited school.

Work Environment:
- The work environment and physical demands described here are representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however, construction and field assignments can be severe (construction equipment, jack hammers, etc).

The employee is occasionally required climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move 10-25 pounds. No experience required.
