Job Summary
The Construction Estimator at MasTec in Northlake, Texas is responsible for assisting with the administrative function of current projects by analyzing blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare material and subcontractor take-offs for bid projects. This position supports Project teams and works with vendors as well as personnel from other departments.
* Candidate _MUST_ have Civil Construction and Overhead/Underground Distribution Electric Utilities Construction Estimation experience.
Responsibilities
+ Prepare accurate take-of materials, subcontracting, and production items for projects.
+ Acquire plans for projects.
+ Bid accurately using _Bid2Win_ software
+ Prepare and deliver bids.
+ Prepare subcontracts and purchase orders for projects.
+ Assist operations in administrative duties on projects.
+ Furnish bid information for tracking purposes, follow bid process, and work on improving bid process.
+ Prepare job files for operations.
+ Keep job log up-to-date.
+ Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.
Qualifications
+ High School Diploma or equivalent.
+ Candidate MUST have Civil Construction and Overhead/Underground Distribution Electric Utilities Construction Estimation experience.
+ Experience and Proficiency with _Bid2Win_ Software
+ Knowledge of methods and specifications in the utility construction field.
+ Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
+ Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
+ Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
+ Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
+ Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only standardization exists.
+ Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
+ Excellent organizational and communication skills, business management skills, and have general knowledge of OSHA regulations.
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred
+ Previous utility construction project estimator experience.
+ Ability to use Bid2Win software efficiently and proficiently

This role routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting. Also, working in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind.

This position is physically active, with lifting required. Must be able to bend and lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
