Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The position of Estimator is a key role in the execution of our projects. The following job description is an overview of the duties and responsibilities that each Estimator must be able to execute for our project's success. The Estimator will calculate possible costs and gains of construction projects by collecting and analyzing data according to a series of useful variables. This position works diligently and collaboratively with Project Managers, Subcontractors and Director of Estimating to help facilitate a seamless process from beginning to end.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Procure vendors and contractors for current and future projects.
- Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments, or construction team to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues
- Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates
- Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates
- Collect historical cost data to estimate costs for current or future products
- Create take-offs and matrixes for the projects
- Prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work
- Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors
- Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures
- Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors
- Understanding of market labor, and commodity conditions and impacts on construction costs
Qualification, Skills & Education:
- Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction industry
- Able to work as a team leader to motivate in a high energy and sense of urgency environment.
- Ability to interpret and read construction drawings and blue prints
- Knowledge of contracts, subcontract documents, drawings and specifications, shop drawings, schedules, labor agreements and local codes
- Experience working on both commercial and residential new ground up and complex renovation projects within the construction industry
- Experience with construction contracts and negotiation
- High standard of ethics, integrity and trust
- Excellent analytical and negotiation skills
- Effective communication, written and verbal
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Strong math skills
- Strong ability to self motivate and work without supervision
- Proficient in Microsoft-Excel, Word, Microsoft, and Procore
