Position Summary
McCormick Taylor, Inc. is accepting multiple resumes for Construction Inspectors to work on highway, structure, and environmental projects. This position will serve as a consultant for the Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) District 6 around the Western Maryland area, including Garrett County, Allegany County, and Washington County. Candidates will ensure quality control and contract compliance on behalf of the SHA. Candidates will have the ability by our client to learn with on-the-job training. McCormick Taylor, Inc. will provide opportunities for candidates to receive the necessary trainings and certifications required for this position.
Responsibilities
- Prepare daily reports and properly document material records in notebook
- Record quantities for comparison with work completed and estimated project quantities
- Act and make decisions independently for routine project issues
- Foster relationships with contractors, project stakeholders, and the general public
- Ensure materials are tested in accordance with contract documents
- Review contractor pay applications for compliance with contract
- Ability to read and interpret roadway plans
Job Requirements:
Qualifications
• No experience required.
• 0-10+ years of experience in the construction industry is a plus, but not preferred/mandatory.
• Willingness to learn and take direction
• Candidates must have a HS diploma or equivalency certificate
• Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation is required
• Flexibility to work additional hours as needed
• Flexibility to work day or night shifts as needed
• Ability to lift and carry or otherwise move 25/50/80 pounds regularly/occasionally
Preferred Certifications (Not required) since we do provide training opportunities to grow your career:
• Maryland Department of the Environment Responsible Personnel Certification
• MDOT SHA E&S Yellow Card
• MDOT SHA Temporary Traffic Control Manager (Orange Card)
• MARTCP Certifications including:
• HMA Field Technician
• Concrete Field Technician
• ACI Concrete
• Aggregate Technician (Field)
• Soils & Aggregate Compaction Certification
