Responsibilities:The Construction Manager coordinates the construction function of the plugging and abandonment program. They are responsible for supervising the construction team and managing and scheduling construction services over multiple job sites while ensuring efficiency, safety, and compliance with industry standards. They will also participate in drafting bid proposals on behalf of the construction function of the plugging program.
- Lead and manage the construction team to execute site building and reclaim operations safely, efficiently, and to the required quality standards. Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to construction team members. Participate in employee hiring, managing, and coaching practices.
- Oversee daily construction operations including scheduling crews and transportation of equipment and materials. Coordinate with drivers, rig crews, and other departments to ensure timely pickup and delivery of equipment and materials and to promote safe and efficient operations.
- Manage inventory and procurement of construction materials and equipment.
- Prepare reports and documentation related to construction operations, including job summaries, performance metrics, cost analysis, and bid proposals.
- Monitor and analyze operations and make recommendations for improvements, optimization, and cost efficiencies.
- Collaborate with various internal plugging departments and with state officials to ensure effective planning and execution of construction operations. Develop and implement construction plans, procedures, and schedules in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular safety meetings and training sessions to promote a safety-first culture among the construction team.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of all near misses, workplace injuries, accidents, or illness, regardless of the severity of the injury or accident.
- Conduct regular site inspections to ensure work is being carried out correctly and to the highest standards.
- Provide regular updates to management regarding field progress, issues, and delays. Track and report cost and spending updates. Coordinate with management to address and monitor any personnel issues.
- Relay and ensure all expectations regarding safety, performance, job site, maintenance, efficiency, etc. are upheld within the construction function.
- Supervise construction equipment maintenance and ensure equipment readiness for operations. Conduct frequent inspections of equipment to identify issues regarding safe and efficient operations and make timely recommendations to rectify any noted problems. Coordinate equipment rentals when necessary.
- Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to construction operations.
- Review daily operations reports detailing and approving operational activity that occurred on site. Complete reports to be submitted in-house and to local state agencies when necessary.
- Review time worked and PTO requests for direct reports.
- Participate in preparing and executing bids for potential customers, including attending bid walks and collaborating with internal plugging departments to draft and submit proposals.
- Check emails daily and comply with email requests as they are assigned.
Perform other duties as requested or assigned, including occasionally assisting with non-plugging or special projects per direction of management.
Qualifications:- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record. Commercial driver’s license (CDL) preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role. Ability to lead, motivate, manage, and develop a team of construction personnel.
- Thorough understanding of and commitment to upholding safety regulations.
- Thorough understanding of site building and reclaim regulations and protocols. Strong knowledge of construction equipment and efficient use of materials.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, vendors, and contractors.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Basic computer skills/proficiency.
- Willingness to travel to visit work sites; occasionally requires extended travel to remote locations and/or overnight stay(s) outside normal office area.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
- The individual must be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required. This includes hard hat, safety glasses, FR clothing, respirators, earplugs, steel-toed shoes, or other protective equipment as required by the work performed and location the work is being done.
