About the Job
The Construction Manager III will help manage Infrastructure Improvement projects in the Transportation Core Service Area. The ideal candidate will have progressive experience in managing municipal infrastructure projects through planning, design, jurisdictional approvals, environmental permitting, construction, and close-out. Candidates with experience managing/constructing roadway infrastructure will be given preference.
Responsibilities:- Assists with advertising, bid opening, bid analysis, award for Job Order Contract (JOC) projects (perhaps all PMD3 projects in the near future).
- Prepares and updates the checklists and task lists (before bid opening to award) (after award to execution of contract).
- Prepares and assists with contract execution process.
- Prepares and assists with responses such as status inquiries and contract compliance for all projects.
- Assists with JOC capacity and work orders.
- Uploads items such as project plans, specs, Notice of Inviting Bids (NIB), Bid Proposal (BP), Instructions to Bidders (ITB), Bidders Responsibility Questionnaire (BRQ) (if necessary).

- Education in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
- Minimum 10 years (CM II) or 15 years (CM III) of project management and concurrent field construction experience
- Licensed professional or Certified Construction Manager (CCM)
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Work experience in project planning and development
- Ability to independently manage all aspects of a project
- Ability to develop and control project scope
- Ability to develop and maintain project budgets
- Ability to develop and review project schedules
- Skilled in reviewing and coordinating the preparation of construction documents
- Ability to effectively facilitate project team and client meetings
- Ability to effectively negotiate and prepare change orders
- Ability to effectively monitor and coordinate construction activities with the various project stakeholders
- Ability to adapt and respond effectively to project issues and challenges
- Ability to set and manage project expectations
- Must be knowledgeable in CEQA/NEPA
Preferred:
- Bachelors or Associates degree preferred
- Job Order Contracting (JOC) project delivery
- Design-Bid-Build project delivery
- Deferred Maintenance/Refurbishment projects
- Knowledge of Public Contracting Code and practices
Salary Range: S180,000 - S200,000
Location: Long Beach, CA
