Position Summary
McCormick Taylor has immediate openings for experienced Construction Manager to facilitate completion of major civil engineering work that includes highways, bridges, and associated structures. The ideal candidate will bring appropriate experience with projects for major public clients in New Jersey, including the NJDOT and the NJ Turnpike Authority. The position involves interpreting field conditions relative to project plans and specifications to facilitate and expedite contractor operations and subsequent successful delivery of client projects.
Responsibilities
- Provide coordination between project designers, client representatives, and project contractors
- Act in the best interests of clients, by making real-time field decisions, providing direction for project contractors
- Track, analyze, and as necessary with other disciplines, coordinate responses to contractor submittals and requests for information (RFIs)
- Prepare reports and documents memorializing decisions and direction
- Coordinate with and update client representatives on project progress and direction
- Make and act independently with decisions on routine project issues
- Lead efforts in preparation of project proposals
- Identify and foster relationships which result in successful enhancement and expansion of work opportunities
Job Requirements:
Qualifications
- 10+ years of appropriate experience related to construction of major civil engineering work
- Ability to serve as intermediary between design and construction efforts to ensure successful and timely completion of projects
- Ability to clearly communicate amongst all concerned parties, and ability to accurately document decisions and direction for project execution
- The ideal candidate will have experience on the contracting side with the ability to understand and appreciate a contractor’s focus on priorities and schedules
- Flexibility to attend site meetings with minimal notice, potentially during non-traditional work hours
- Ability to read and interpret complex roadway and structure plans
- Possession of a valid driver’s license and reliable personal transportation
