This Opportunity
WSP is seeking a Construction Manager to join a datacenter construction project as an Owner’s Representative near Boydton, VA.
This full-time, onsite Construction Manager will support the client Project Manager by helping plan, manage, and coordinate day-to-day activities on a large, fast-paced construction project from inception through commissioning and handover. This is a dynamic role and as such, responsibilities will evolve over time to support client needs.
Your Impact
• Coordinate with the general contractor, subcontractors, designers, utilities, regulatory agencies, consultants, and other construction and building specialists focused on safe quality construction meeting the overall schedule and budget for the project.
• Demonstrate commitment to an injury-free environment through own actions onsite. Support Safety Managers, mentor others, participate in safety planning, and enforce site safety plan requirements.
• Lead and attend meetings to review status and logistics, actively solve challenges, and assist in positive collaboration and communication across the stakeholders.
• Conduct site inspections to monitor progress and conformance to project drawings and specifications.
• Manage and track costs associated with the project to include reviews of invoices and change proposals.
• Work and communicate in a dynamic team environment as an owner representative.
• Prepare and present daily and weekly reports summarizing project plans and status.
• Document and track issues / shortcomings through to resolution and help document and communicate lessons learned.
• Recognize trends and recommend process improvements.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
• 7 - 10+ years of construction and commissioning leadership experience demonstrating abilities to coordinate and deliver large projects with positive results.
• Construction experience on datacenters, hospitals, or other complex, mission-critical facilities is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and effectively manage their time, while building positive working relationships with a diverse stakeholder group.
• Demonstrated experience with major construction regulations, industry codes, and standards.
• Knowledge and experience using typical computer software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and construction management software is required.
• Ability to understand and discuss complex technical information effectively with both engineers and non-engineers.
• Ability to walk distances on uneven sites, climb small ladders, and work in an active construction environment.
• Certifications in project management, construction, quality assurance, or commissioning are desired (e.g., PMP, CCM, CDCAP, DCEP, ICC, CxA, NICET, ASHRAE, USACE CQM, etc.).
• OSHA 30 construction safety certification is desired.
• Must pass a background check.
