Job Summary:
Associate Construction Engineering Technician: Works closely with more experienced technicians and professionals while learning test methods associated with construction materials on job sites. Learns electronic reporting software and where to find testing requirements. Responsible for equipment maintenance and cleanliness, while learning and assisting with calibrations.
Testing: Perform soil, concrete, masonry and/or asphalt testing under the direct observation of more experienced technicians and/or professionals
Equipment: Maintain equipment in a clean and functioning manner.
Reporting: Report testing results under the direct observation of a more experienced technician and/or professional.
Construction Engineering Technician I: Performs routine testing of construction materials primarily on job sites, under the observation of more experienced technicians and professionals. Responsible for reporting test results in a logical and complete manner, after review by others. Responsible for equipment maintenance and cleanliness, while learning and assisting with calibrations.
Testing: Perform soil, concrete, masonry and/or asphalt testing under the occasional observation of more experienced technicians and/or professionals
Equipment: Maintain equipment in a clean and functioning manner. Assist in the maintenance and calibrations.
Reporting: Report testing results under the occasional observation of a more experienced technician and/or professional.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma/GED
- Associate Construction Engineering Tech:
- 0-2 years of experience in construction testing/inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt materials
- One(1) or more active certifications, a plus:
- American Concrete Institute (ACI): Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician; Laboratory Technician
- International Code Council (ICC): Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils)
- DOT Certifications in the fields of Aggregate, Conventional Density, Asphalt, and Concrete
- Construction Engineering Technician I:
- 3+ months of experience in construction testing/inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt materials
- One(1) or more active certifications:
- American Concrete Institute (ACI): Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician; Laboratory Technician
- International Code Council (ICC): Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils)
- DOT Certifications in the fields of Aggregate, Conventional Density, Asphalt, and Concrete
- Effective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language
- Effective math skills with a basic understanding of weight, volume, pressure, and units of measure
- Proficiently complete data entry into multiple software applications on a smart device, using Microsoft Office and email
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment:
- Working outdoors the majority of the time in varying weather conditions
- Walking over rough and uneven terrain
- Standing up to 8-12 hours a day
- Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs, (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
- Maneuver field equipment safely, such as a loaded wheelbarrow, on uneven ground and around active construction sites
- Traveling out-of-town (typically overnight) for assignments as necessary
- Working outside of normal business hours when necessary
