S&ME is looking for Construction Materials Engineering Technicians of all experience levels to join our team in New Albany, Indiana. About The Role:
As a Construction Materials Engineering Technician, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the quality and integrity of construction projects. Your daily field testing of soil, concrete, asphalt rebar and other building materials as well as observations on project sites will guarantee compliance with industry standards and project specifications. From reviewing construction plans to documenting field activities, your contributions will be crucial in ensuring that structures are built correctly. While the job primarily involves outdoor work, your dedication will be rewarded with the satisfaction of seeing projects come to life.
Every day you'll be responsible for submitting your report on project tasks and testing results through a software called Metafield®. You'll be held accountable to calibrate equipment to industry standards to ensure precision in testing processes and maintain open communication with stakeholders to foster trust and transparency, driving success of our projects.
About You:
- You have a high school diploma/GED
- You have 0-3+ years of experience in construction testing/inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt materials
- You have effective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language
- You have the ability to complete data entry into multiple software applications on a smart device
Compensation and technician level will be based on experience and industry certifications.
You are willing and able to:
Perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment such as:
- Working outdoors the majority of the time in varying weather conditions
- Walking over rough and uneven terrain
- Standing up to 8 hours a day, up to 12 hours on occasion
- Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs, (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
- Maneuver field equipment safely, such as a loaded wheelbarrow, on uneven ground and around active construction sites
- Traveling out-of-town (typically overnight) for assignments as necessary
- Working outside of normal business hours when necessary
