Our ideal candidate will have:
- A bachelor’s degree in construction management or engineering
- At least 10 years of commercial construction experience with a general contractor in a project management or construction operations role
- The proven ability to develop and maintain relationships with clients and primary contacts to drive projects for their division
- Experience collaborating with project team and leadership to ensure that the team delivers the best construction experience
- Participate in networking opportunities and relevant organizations while actively engaging other affiliations and potential clients
- Experience in quoting and negotiating contract changes with the client
Requirements
- Leadership: individual needs to have the ability to supervise and lead the team.
- Organization: individual should be able to schedule and supervise multi-tasking work of a multi-member team.
- Experience: individual should have required and proven knowledge in commercial building and construction and related sectors.
- Problem-Solving: individual should have and demonstrate good problem-solving skills.
- Communication: individual should possess and demonstrate excellent communication skills not only with team members, but also with the Project Management and the Customer.
- Computer Skills: individual needs to be computer literate and should have basic computer knowledge and experience in the use of Microsoft Office and Outlook software.
- Effective and professional verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to make timely decisions in difficult situations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Procore
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work under minimal supervision.
- Ability to adapt to changing demands and priorities.
- Ability to identify and resolve potential problems proactively.
- Ability to travel as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Technology, Engineering or Architecture and 7 years’ experience in construction operations and/or construction management. 8 years continuous experience in construction operations and/or construction management in lieu of degree.
Responsibilities
- Interface with the client as his/her primary contact, by receiving and communicating initial project information. Responsible for inquiring about upcoming special projects and program work.
- Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the provisions and requirements of all contract documents.
- Assist in the development of the project schedule and direct its long-term planning and execution.
- Recognize on-site activities which might impede project progress or jeopardize compliance to project/contract requirements. Prepare and submit related informational documents to the client or other responsible parties and implement corrective measures.
- Oversee the project budget for each work activity. Report monthly on the progress and current profitability of the division.
- Prepare, quote, and negotiate contract changes with client, with Regional Director’s guidance.
- Maintain open communication with all other support and business units.
- Promote goodwill with clients, architects, engineers, etc. to facilitate construction activities and future repeat business.
- Supervise the project activities of the Project Managers and staff.
- Participate in bidding, pre-construction services, budgeting, and continuous improvement programs.
- Support the organization and execution of the project safety compliance program within the guidelines of company policies.
- Responsible for managing special projects as required.
Physical Demands:
- The individual typically works in an office environment and uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to perform duties.
- The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear. Generally, the job requires 70% sitting, 15% walking, and 15% standing.
- Frequently required to use repetitive hand motion, handle, or feel, and to stand, walk, reach, bend or lift up to 20 pounds.
- Please note that climbing stairs is a physical requirement. Some offices contain an elevator, but one must be able to use stairs for fire drills and emergencies
