This Project Manager position pays a competitive wage of $70,000 - $80,000/yr, depending on experience. A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A CONSTRUCTION PROJECT MANAGER
As a Construction Project Manager, you manage projects in the 100K to 4M range. Your knowledge of the excavation industry, your skills as an estimator, your knack for organization, and your good communication skills help you excel in this position. Your time is spent both at your computer and out in the field. You manage project schedules and cost control for multiple projects simultaneously, coordinating invoicing and preparing reports.
You go out to sites, see what the needs are, and conduct walk-throughs. You assemble and use details such as pricing, measurements, and the required workforce to evaluate a project, utilizing estimating and Takeoff software in addition to our basic computer programs. Your attention to detail helps you to price out changes in conditions. After receiving approval, you schedule the materials, ensuring that the work is completed properly.
You work with subcontractors and suppliers and write and track subcontracts while maintaining relationships with them built on trust. You track and price out change orders, track and manage RFI's, and communicate with field staff. You also conduct value engineering when needed. QUALIFICATIONS FOR A CONSTRUCTION PROJECT MANAGER
- Degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field OR equivalent on-the-job experience
- 2 years of experience in a similar role at a civil construction company
- Experience with private, municipal, federal, and State DOT projects
- Experience with excavation, grading, underground utilities, and road construction
- Ability to travel to, walk through, and attend pre-construction meetings at job sites
- Proficiency with Takeoff software such as OnScreen
- Proficiency with Microsoft Project Software
- Proficiency with Quickbooks accounting software
- Proficiency with bid software such as HCSS HeavyBid
