Position Overview
The Facilities Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Construction Project Manager in our Facilities Plan Design Construction Auxiliary area.
Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
* Oversee the construction of complex projects including but not limited to kitchen/dining facilities.
* Coordinate construction implementation with inhouse staff, contracted architects and engineers.
* Assist with the selection of consultants and contractors.
* Supervise long range facilities capital planning efforts.
* Ensure timely completion of projects, within budget and scope.
* Clearly communicate with clients and management project status/issues/concerns.
* Identify potential risks while devising proactive ways to solve them.
* Ensure all building and safety codes, safety inspections, campus guidelines and local and state regulations are met.
* Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field and five years of related experience in the construction industry; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
* Experience managing medium to large construction projects.
* Experience working in construction for a public education institution and/or commercial setting.
* Knowledge of building codes, construction documents and construction safety standards.
* Proficiency in specific software may be required.
* Knowledge of appropriate safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed.
Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:
* Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in MEP project management, facilities operations, planning or maintenance.
* Good problem solving skills.
* Excellent customer service and communication skills.
* Experience working with Higher Education Capital Projects.
Required License/Registration/Certifications
Possession of a valid Texas driver's license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment; ability to drive a vehicle and maintain coverage under University liability insurance policy, if required to drive University vehicles.
Job Duties:
- Provides management oversight for all phases (programming design and construction) of complex interior and exterior renovation and site projects, including coordinating consultants, contractors, material, equipment, ensuring specifications are being followed, schedule is maintained and project is within budget.
- Provides management oversight for inhouse projects involving the development of estimates, schematic design, design development, and construction documents with specifications for construction and renovation projects.
- Coordinates with UNT departments, UNT systems ITSS, and facilities maintenance.
- Administrative: Utilizes project management software and CAD (AutoCAD/Revit) programs for project. Provides weekly project progress reports, state reporting, and backup documentation for various leadership review and approval.
- Coordinates construction services with Auxiliary Maintenance on Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing projects. Assists fellow PMs on potential building code and inspection implications.
- Consistently completes expected duties in a timely manner without constant supervision. Accepts responsibility for own work and follows through on commitments.
