WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full-Time Construction Project Manager for our Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise (FTE) Pompano Beach, Florida office. Your Impact
Job Duties:
- Responsibility for project leadership, teambuilding, interface and collaboration with stakeholders, and ultimately accountability for project success
- Act as the owner’s principal agent in the implementation and delivery of construction projects
- Responsible for multiple concurrent construction projects with combined construction values which could range from $300 million to $1 Billion
- Perform phase reviews of design drawings including traffic control and public impacts, specification and special provision interpretation and recommendations, incentive/disincentive criteria; and conducting pre-bid meetings when required
- Assist Consultant CEI Manager with staff estimates for upcoming contracts as requested
- Review email project correspondence/documentation from the contractors and CEI staff Follow up with the CEI staff or contractor on critical items or subjects that require additional information or clarification
- Review (in person or over the phone, depending on the issue) with the CEI upcoming operations and traffic shifts, critical project items that require attention, and general follow up on outstanding business
- Review supplemental agreements, unilateral payments, work orders and time extension adjustments and provide feedback or concurrence
- Attend progress meetings, Dispute Review Board (DRB) meetings and critical pre-operations meetings, negotiation meetings (and critical design/coordination meetings for Design/Build projects)
- Perform field review of contractor operations, environmental permit compliance and maintenance of traffic throughout the week
- Perform Independent review of project plans, specifications, permits, etc. as QA that the CEI and/or contractor have provided accurate information
- Interact and coordinate with other FTE staff (Construction, Maintenance, Design, Traffic Operations and PIO) for feedback, concurrence, adjacent project coordination or other pertinent issues affecting customer service
- Utility relocation coordination and railroad company coordination for construction activities in their right-of-way
- Monitor financial status of construction and CEI contracts
- Review and analyze construction contract claims, prepare recommendations and negotiate settlements
- Review and analyze Contractor CPM schedules in conjunction with CEI/Construction Scheduling Manager
- Monitor shop drawing reviews and status of Requests for Information (RFIs)
- Coordinate Semi-final and Final inspections, review punch-lists and their resolution
- Coordinate the submittal of the project closeout documentation, As-Built plans, Final Estimate and Offer of Final Payment
- Assist CEI team in development of Lessons Learned documentation and facilitate transfer of knowledge to Production
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications:
- Civil Engineering degree and registration in the State of Florida as a Professional Engineer
- 10 years of engineering experience in major road / bridge construction as well as experience in project management
- Qualifications include the ability to communicate effectively in English (verbally and in writing)
- Direct highly complex and specialized construction engineering administration and inspection program
- Plan and organize the work of subordinate and staff members; develops and/or reviews policies, methods, practices, and procedures;
- Review programs for conformance with Florida Department of Transportation standards.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies
- Must successfully complete and pass WSP's Motor Vehicle screening.
