Habitat for Humanity Golden Empire is a 501c3 Nonprofit Organization dedicated to serving our local community by providing affordable housing, critical home repair, and preservation.
Habitat For Humanity Golden Empire is seeking a skilled and licensed Construction Superintendent to lead our existing team of construction specialists in the areas of new and affordable housing and critical home repair. We are looking for a dedicated professional with experience in construction supervision and administration to help drive the Habitat for Humanity Mission of serving those in need. This position reports directly to the organization’s Chief Executive Officer.
Responsibility and Authority:
- Responsible for working to ensure a safe and effective work site for all.
- Coordinate Habitat’s construction volunteer services.
- Responsible for the collection and submission of all construction employees’ time sheets and applicable mileage documentation.
- Provide general oversite of all construction work performed.
- Responsible for all construction staff scheduling and assignments.
- Schedule and conduct formal residential assessments and or inspections.
- Schedule subcontractors and coordinate all residential construction efforts, including municipal program engagement, i.e., City, County, State, or Federal efforts.
- Ability to implement and manage construction and repair project budgets.
- Coordinate the delivery of all material, checking against purchase orders to provide project oversight.
- Inspect each phase of work to ensure acceptable quality and timely completion of each trade/project.
- Responsible for approving and cost coding all completed purchase orders and subcontractor pay requests.
- Responsible for project bids and applicable quotes for service.
- Provide team oversight in verifying plans, estimates, and construction sheets and resolve potential discrepancies.
- After closing, responsible for resolving warranty issues by completing outstanding tasks or coordinating with homeowners and subcontractors to ensure timely completion.
- Work in conjunction with Habitat’s architectural firm to ensure proper new construction residential design and function.
- Provide administrative construction oversight while leading a team of Critical Repair Case Managers.
- Valid Class “B” Contractors License.
- Valid Class “C” Driver’s License.
- A minimum of five years of experience as a Construction Superintendent/Foreman or equivalent.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred but may be substituted for accumulative construction supervision experience.
- Bilingual preferred but not required.
- Nonprofit Construction Management experience preferred but not required.
- Must be goal-driven, results-oriented and committed to the organization’s effort to expand the Habitat Mission in Kern County and beyond.
- Self-motivated individual with the ability to function independently and as a team player.
- Excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task when faced with competing deadlines and priorities with timely and consistent attention to detail.
- Must be able to work within digital space to capture essential details and vital information.
- Maintain a consistent professional image through dress, actions, and relationships with others, modeling Habitat for Humanity core values.
- This individual is expected to be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds occasionally. Position also requires working on a ladder and scaffolding, frequent bending, squatting, lifting and repetitive motion. This position will occasionally be exposed to extreme weather conditions (e.g. heat, cold, wind, rain).
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
- Valid CA Drivers’ license and clean driving record. CPR/AED training must be obtained within 60 days of employment. Required Lockton Safety Video Training must be taken either prior to the date of hire or within 30 days of employment. These online trainings, which Habitat will provide, include:
- Back Safety
- Fall Safety
- Preventing Slips, Trips and Falls
- Ladder Safety
- Ability to become proficient in Procore’s Construction Platform.
