Construction Superintendent - VPG Enterprise

About the Job
VPG Construction is a full-service general contractor in Greater New Orleans and Baton Rouge. We are looking for a site superintendent who can manage multiple projects simultaneously. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in the following:
- Assist with procurement and subcontractor negotiations
- Keep daily field logs
- Client and subcontractor interface
- Project schedule – Microsoft Projects
- Weekly progress meetings with owners
- Weekly coordination and schedule meetings with subcontractors
- Schedule subcontractors and vendors to ensure timely completion
- Monitor subcontractor production and work progress against the construction schedule
- Manage material ordering and deliveries
- Ability to recognize drawing conflicts and field issues and submit RFI’s to the design team
- Maintain a clean job site
- All superintendent functions
Qualifications:
The Ideal candidate will have ten years of experience in a Supervisory capacity managing similar construction projects. They will ideally have extensive experience in retail grocery, mixed-use retail, and commercial projects. Specific experience and skills requirements of the position are:
- Strong communication and motivational skills.
- Excellent supervisory and field coordination skills.
- Computer literate with emphasis on Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, Outlook, and MS operating systems
- Clear Oral communication skills, English and Spanish a plus.
- Knowledge of Cal OSHA safety requirements.
- Thoroughly knowledgeable in the interpretation of drawings and specifications.
- Comprehensive knowledge of divisions of work.

- Possess advanced written and oral communication skills.
- Possess extensive analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to be an initiative-taker and have strong time management skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure, multi-task, and handle multiple priorities.
- Ability and willingness to exert disciplinary action as needed and delegate authority.
- Ability to work both with minimal supervision and as a team player.
Requirements
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record.
- Ability to be insured as an authorized driver for the Company.
- Ability to work any time or day of the week, including weekends and holidays.
