Job Overview
The Construction Superintendent plays a key role in successful management of on-site construction operations, ensuring projects are completed on time, on budget, safely, and to specification. This role requires hands-on construction experience working knowledge of a variety of small machinery equipment including mini-excavators, skid steers, and graders to perform tasks such as site preparation, trenching, grading, and backfilling work. Will also direct tasks, managing crew, and subcontractor performance, coordinating materials, budget, schedules, and enforcing safety standards. This position collaborates with project managers, coordinates with subcontractors, and leads on-site teams to maintain safety, schedule, and budget. This role combines the need for practical construction skills with leadership responsibilities to ensure seamless site operations and efficiencies to safely support a successful project through completion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise daily construction activities and labor crews.
- Coordinate tasks according to project timelines and ensure proper site setup.
- Complete 5 day look ahead schedule coordinated with the project manager
- Perform skilled labor tasks such as carpentry, concrete work, or equipment operation as needed.
- Operate construction equipment to complete assigned tasks.
- Perform routine maintenance checks and minor repairs on machinery.
- Maintain equipment logs and report any issues or breakdowns promptly.
- Monitor job site safety and enforce safety protocols, ensuring OSHA and company standards are met.
- Report progress, delays, material needs, and any conflicts to the Project Manager.
- Assist in scheduling, resource management, and quality control.
- Oversee materials management, including delivery, inventory, and usage.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience in superintendent role (multi family experience preferred)
- Must be self-motivated and have ability to motivate others around them. Be able to self-manage.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations and procedures. OSHA 10 hour and 30-hour certificate preferred
- Knowledge of equipment safety practices and protocols.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, plans, and specifications.
- Ability to use Microsoft suite of software, ability to learn and grow with new software.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, scheduling, and safety regulations.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational skills, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Valid driver's license; ability to travel between job sites.
Working Conditions:
- On-site work in various weather conditions.
- Physical ability to work in outdoor, high-demand environments.
- May require extended hours, including weekends. Ability to travel and be away from home.
- Loading and unloading materials, using various tools and machinery, performing physical labor tasks such as digging or lifting, and adhering to safety procedures.
Reports to: Project Manager
Schedule: M-F, 6am - 3pm
Pay: $60k-$80k
