Job Purpose
Kansas City Kansas Community College (KCKCC) is currently searching a full-time faculty member to provide high quality, learner-centered instruction for students enrolled in Construction Technology related coursework at Technical Education Center while supporting the institution’s mission, vision, and strategic plan.
Position Description
- Provideformalinstruction utilizing student-centered teaching strategies and leadership in the constructiontechnology program.
- Specify,select,install,operate,andmaintainnecessary equipment and/or training modules required to support the specificcourse(s) being taughtwithindepartmentalbudgetrestraints.
- Preparecoursesyllabiaddressingtargetedstudentabilities,specificcompetencies,textbookrequirements,grading/assessmentmethodology,coursescheduling, and/or otheritems as required.
- Provideregular,timely reports to students of academicperformanceincluding current grades in course(s)taught.
- Establishand/orhelpmaintain an industry-basedadvisory board.
- Demonstratecommitment to the program,division,andtotalinstitution by timely attendance and submission of requiredgrade,attendance, or other miscellaneous reports to theadministration.
- Participate in marketingactivities for the divisionand/orinstitution by interfacingwiththecollege’s marketing team to providesupportingmaterials as requiredfor the development of advertisingpromotions such as brochures,mediaspots,webpages,posters, etc.
- Assist in student job placement and submitfollow-updocumentation.
- Participate in professionaldevelopment.
- Assist in obtaining or maintainingaccreditationforprograms taught as assigned.
- Successfully complete importantassessmentwork.
- Responsiblefor the transportation of students duringfield trips, community projects, or other program related activities, per the college’s policies and guidelines.
- Other related duties as assigned by appropriate administrator.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of basic framing and exterior finishing of a residential home.
- Knowledge of basic interior finishing including basic electrical and plumbing skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work with diverse populations and learner.
Position Qualifications and/or Education
Minimum Qualifications and/or Education
- High school diploma or GED equivalent plus an industry related certification(s) and/or college level certification in Construction, Carpentry, or a closely related field. Upon hire certifications for this position will be required.
- Five (5) years of related and verifiable experience in Construction Technology.
- Experience with computer programs such as Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications and/or Education
- Associate degree or higher in Construction Technology or a closely related field.
- Teaching experience in an open enrollment, urban community college.
- Experience with a Learning Management System such as Blackboard.
- Experience in learner-centered pedagogy.
- Have or qualifytoobtainNCCER(National Center for ConstructionEducationandResearch) certificationinapplicableconstructiontechnologysubjectarea.
Physical Requirements
Workinvolves thesetup and operation of potentially hazardous equipment and machinery as well as theoccasionallifting and moving of construction and manufacturingcomponentsandmaterialsrequiringthelifting of at least 50 lbs. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, talk, hear, walk, sit, and occasionally push or lift items. Work Schedule
Must be able to work a variable schedule/hour to meet operational needs. May require evening and weekend hours.
