Construction Workers & Framing Carpenters - Ponca City Development Authority

We are seeking a hard-working and reliable construction workers. We have several different positions available. You will participate in a variety of construction projects and follow construction plans and instructions from the site supervisor. Must be able to lift 100 lbs. The pay will be determined by experience. 

Framing carpenters construct or repair the framework of commercial, residential, and industrial buildings. They determine the dimensions of the framework to be constructed, measure, and cut the required building materials accordingly, and assemble the materials to form the framework.

We are looking to hire an experienced framing carpenter to construct the framework of buildings and other structures according to construction plans. The framing carpenter's responsibilities include using plumb bobs and levels to ensure that structures are exactly vertical or horizontal, constructing window and door frames as well as staircases and flooring, and installing temporary supports for structures as required. You should also be able to hang drywall over the completed framework.

To be successful as a framing carpenter, you should be able to interpret blueprints and have sound knowledge of building codes and safety regulations. Ultimately, an exceptional framing carpenter should demonstrate excellent problem-solving skills and ensure that all tasks are completed in a timely manner.

To be successful in this position, you will work well as part of a team, enjoy working outdoors, and be able to perform strenuous physical tasks.

Construction Worker  & Framing Carpenter Responsibilities:

• Preparing construction sites, materials, and tools.
• Loading and unloading of materials, tools, and equipment.
• Removing debris, garbage, and dangerous materials from sites.
• Assembling and breaking down barricades, temporary structures, and scaffolding.
• Assisting contractors, e.g. electricians and painters, as required.
• Assisting with transport and operation of heavy machinery and equipment.
• Following all health and safety regulations.
• Digging holes, tunnels, and shafts.
• Mixing, pouring, and leveling concrete.
• Construct or repair the framework of commercial, residential, and industrial buildings
• Accurately measuring, cutting, and shaping lumber, wood, and other building materials.
• Attaching building materials using screws, nuts, and bolts.
• Erecting temporary structures such as scaffolds and hoists.
• Performing repairs on existing framework structures that are damaged or structurally unsound.
• Analyzing blueprints and drawings to determine the structural dimensions of the framework to be constructed.
• Analyzing construction plans to identify potential structural problems.
• Examining building materials to identify any defects.
• Performing cleanups of job sites by clearing away all carpentry debris and waste.
• Constructing wooden concrete forms to aid the construction team in erecting various concrete structures.

Construction Worker Job Requirements:

• No formal qualification is required, although a high school diploma may be preferred.
• Verifiable work history.
• Must be able to read a tape measure
• Be mild-tempered and a team player.
• Be able to lift 100 lbs.
