ERM is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Consultant, Geologist to join our growing team in Walnut Creek, California. Working under the direction of project managers and partners, the successful candidate will work on interesting site investigation and remediation projects throughout California and other US locations. You may also have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, covering the full spectrum of ERM’s services.
This is a great opportunity to work with ERM's technical experts to implement the latest investigation and remediation technologies, while building the required experience to obtain your professional registration.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct field work, including sampling, drilling, well installation, remedial pilot tests, construction oversight, and remedial system operation and maintenance.
- Assist in groundwater and system performance monitoring.
- Compile and evaluate data and assist in report preparation.
- Prepare health and safety plans, simple investigation work plans, and routine monitoring reports
- Assist in the preparation of complex investigation reports, feasibility studies, and remedial action plans.
- Perform Phase II environmental site assessments to support property transfer transactions.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with all federal, state and local regulations.
- Work within quality/budget/schedule expectations and scope-specific assignments.
- Communicate with subcontractors, regulatory agents, tenants, and clients during field activities.
REQUIREMENTS:
- BS in Geology or related degree.
- 2+ years of relevant environmental experience including environmental field work.
- 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification, PG or GIT certification a plus.
- Strong commitment to safety, including following established Health and Safety protocols.
- Able to walk across uneven surfaces for up to 10 hours per day and lift up to 40 pounds
- Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
- Effective written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills; experience recording/writing detailed technical data and reports a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, travel, and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Local candidates preferred.
For the Consultant, Geologist position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $74,015– $81,424. An employee’s pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs. We also may have instances where employee’s fall outside of the range based on the factors noted above. This job may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/flex force employees are NOT bonus eligible).

*Benefits Eligibility is limited to Regular employees regularly scheduled to work 20 or more hours per week.
