ERM is seeking a motivated Consulting Associate, Engineer to join our consulting team in Chicago or Milwaukee. The successful candidate will work on a variety of interesting technical projects for clients in the new energy, oil & gas, mining, power, chemical, warehousing, and manufacturing sectors. The primary role includes support of development of construction drawings, specifications and permitting related to site design, environmental remediation, utility layout, erosion and sediment control, earthwork design and stormwater management components. Depending upon experience, opportunities for, geotechnical explorations, industrial wastewater assessment and design, soil and groundwater remediation, waste management facility design/closure and construction oversight among many others are also possible.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design site layout, grading, drainage, infrastructure, and erosion and sediment control design from concept through completion
- Assist in engineering design associated with various types of process and civil remediation projects for contaminated soil and groundwater, using innovative and emerging remedial treatment technologies as well as traditional systems
- Provide office and field oversight of contractors, subcontractors, and construction inspectors and direct the progress of work
- Provide field support as needed during construction oversight and provide Construction Quality Assurance
- Perform periodic monitoring, operation, and maintenance on groundwater remediation, soil vapor extraction, sub-slab depressurization, and other types of remediation systems
- Conduct other fieldwork, including remedial pilot tests, quality assurance activities, and construction oversight
- Evaluate various remedial technologies for applicability at specific sites.
- Assist in the design of remediation construction projects
- Deliver as part of the design team construction drawings, technical specifications and contract documents
- Evaluate field data, perform calculations and prepare engineering reports.
- Provide general engineering support on a wide variety of environmental projects related to performance assurance, compliance, and transactional services
- Role model ERM health and safety procedures and behaviors
- Conduct site visits of operating industrial facilities
- Conduct historical research and review environmental records
- Prepare technical reports for environmental projects
- Verbal and written interaction with local regulators to steward permit application review and issuance
- Perform multiple tasks within scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables
- Interact and maintain successful relationships with clients, ERM employees, and subcontractors

REQUIREMENTS:
- BS in Civil/Environmental Engineering (or related degree) or the equivalency of 8+ years related experience in lieu of education
- 0 to 3 years of experience, Direct consulting or industry experience a plus
- F.E. certification preferred
- Experience in computer modeling software such as: AutoCAD/Civil3D, GIS Software and/or Hydraflow a plus
- Excellent verbal, writing, and computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Demonstrated ability to research and prepare concise and accurate technical documents
- Keen attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, which includes being comfortable and effective at communicating complex technical knowledge and concepts to other staff, clients, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders
- Valid driver’s license and a good driving record
