Job Title: Contemporary Worship Musician
Location: Altus Air Force Base (AFB) Chapel, Bldg 301.
Duties:
- The candidate shall provide musical selections for the Contemporary Worship Service as coordinated with Praise and Worship Leader.
- Provide directions to additional musicians who may play a variety of instruments to include, but not limited to, piano, organ, guitar (acoustic, electric, and bass), drums and woodwinds.
- Coordinate weekly music rehearsals on an agreed upon date with the Praise and Worship Leader and Designated Chaplain.
- Provide music in support of the Contemporary Praise and Worship Leader.
- Conduct one (1) worship service per week.
- Conduct one (1) rehearsal per weekday in support of the Contemporary Praise and Worship Leader.
- Conduct Special Worship Service or rehearsal(s)
Education and Responsibilities:
- Possess a minimum of three (3) years’ experience within the last five (5) as a Musician in a Contemporary-style worship service setting.
- Be positive, self-directed, motivated, and able to interface well within the interfaith Air Force chapel environment with chaplains and volunteers from various religious backgrounds.
- Possess an ability to maintain healthy, functional interpersonal relationships with staff and congregants, and maintain professional standards of conduct and public decorum, including but not limited to dress and grooming.
- Display active membership/attendance at a church/chapel with a letter of endorsement from their current pastor/chaplain.
- Have a working knowledge of the worship music used in multi-cultural Christian worship settings (preferably Protestant Christian) and an ability to learn various styles/new songs as they become prevalent.
- Ability to read music, play by ear, and play a lead instrument (i.e., guitar, piano, and/or keyboard); must have knowledge of vocal harmony and able to provide accompaniment for praise team members and solo vocalists as needed.
