How You Will Make an Impact?
The Continuous Improvement Specialist - Materials will:
- Support the Site Leader in terms of creating a Culture of Continuous Improvement
- Assess Lean Methodology needs, deliver and/or coordinate proper training
- Understand the current process state, identify efficiency/improvement opportunities, then leading cross-functional team members to drive process improvements tied to Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) of the business utilizing Lean methodologies.
Focus areas include but are not limited to: Strategy Deployment, Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Standard Work, Continuous Flow, Material Flow, Visual Management & Total Preventive Management. Automation opportunities identified will be documented and applied where applicable.
The Nuts and Bolts
- Develop and implement continuous improvement strategies with value stream mapping to enhance efficiency and streamline materials control processes within the manufacturing plant.
- Analyze existing materials management systems and identify opportunities for optimization, cost reduction, and waste elimination utilizing problem-solving tools.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather data, assess performance metrics, and identify areas for improvement in materials flow and inventory management.
- Lead initiatives to enhance forecasting accuracy, ensuring adequate stock levels while minimizing excess inventory.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles to drive process improvements and eliminate bottlenecks in materials control workflows by developing standard operation procedures, standard work, and 5S.
- Utilize Six Sigma methodologies to identify and eliminate defects, reducing variability and improving overall materials quality.
- Train and mentor materials control staff on continuous improvement methodologies and best practices.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor and measure the success of continuous improvement initiatives by developing visual management boards.
- Collaborate with suppliers to optimize supply chain processes and enhance materials delivery reliability.
- Lead Kaizen activities and track financial savings for validation.
Required Credentials
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering or related field or related experience
- 5+ years working experience in manufacturing applying Lean methodologies and problem-solving tools in a manufacturing environment.
- 3+ years' work experience in Lean methodologies and continuous improvement activities and financial calculation of savings, budget forecasting, ROI calculation and ration analysis.
- Trained in Lean manufacturing Principles (5S, Waste Elimination, Mistake Proofing, PDCA, Root Cause Analysis, A3 Problem Solving, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, Lead Time Reduction)
- Strong analytical skills and extensive experience in financial calculations of savings and return of investment.
- Experience in developing continuous improvement activities in material management and SIOP (Sales Inventory Operating Planning) improvement activities.
- Experience in operational performance evaluation (Efficiency/Utilization)
