Davis Wright Tremaine LLP is seeking alitigationattorney for engagement through the firms contract attorney and alternative staffing program, DWTSurge. This contract attorney position will work with the Firms litigation practice group to help support and manage a high-volume of commercial litigation cases, including small claims and arbitrations, for largeinstitutional DWT clients.Attorneys based in the New York tri-state area with residency and bar admission in New York, New Jersey, and/or Connecticut are encouraged to apply.
Attorneys with significant experiencein arbitration, dispute resolution, pre-litigation,all phases of litigation,and who are seekingmore flexibility in their practice,are encouraged to apply. In addition to flexibility, candidates can expect to work closely with DWT attorneys as part of a collaborative team, providing high-value legal services to DWT clients.
This contract position offers the flexibility of primarily remote work, with some potential for in-person appearances and on-site work as needed for assigned cases.This position is also flexible with respect to hours and is open to candidates seeking full-time or part-time hours. While the engagement is foran initial 6-month contract term, we anticipate the work to remain relatively steady and there is a high possibility of renewal of the contract position for successful candidates.We are looking for attorneys interested in establishing a long-term working relationship with the Firm.
The ideal candidate will have:
- 5+ years oflitigation experience, specifically in arbitrations or small claims matters,in a mid-sized or large law firm and/or with large institutional clients
- Residency and active bar admission in one of the following states: CT, NJ, NY.
- Experience representing client interests when meeting and conferring various stakeholders, including opposing counsel.
- Strong motions drafting skills and experience.
- Excellent legal drafting and communication skills, including oral and written advocacy.
- Ability to distill research into meaningful and persuasive written work product, as well as to work meticulously to ensure work product quality.
- High-level of responsiveness and client service abilities.
- Availability to work at least 20 hours per week on an on-going basis, if seeking a part-time position.
- Availability to work at least 30 hours per week, not to exceed 40 hours weekly, on an on-going basis if seeking a full-time position.
- Ability to work remotely and support East Coast hours.
- Excellent writing skills, strong attention to detail, and ability to produce high quality work product with minimal supervision and direction.
Please note that this is a temporary contract position managed by DWTs flexible attorney program, DWTSurge. Compensation will be paid on an hourly basis, commensurate with experience and skill level (see below). This role has the opportunity to be benefitted. Due to the structure of the DWTSurge program, DWTSurge employees are not eligible for the firms pro bono, DEI, and other activities or opportunities outside of the above stated scope of work. Salary Range
The hourly range for this position in CA, WA, WDC, and NY is $100 to $120 perhour. Actual pay will be adjusted based on the candidates education, training, experience and other job-related factors permitted by law. Full-time contract attorneys may be eligible for medical benefits, 401(k), and paid sick leave.
