What?
The Contract Service Quality Improvement Lead plans, designs, implements and maintains a quality improvement program using inputs from key metrics. This role involves providing training and support to personnel, analyzing processes, performing risk assessments, interpreting data, and reporting results with recommendations to the Quality Assurance Manager. The scope of the role focuses on contract services at the Oregon Freeze Dry New York location.
This position is full-time, with a salary range starting at $70,000.
Main aspects of the role include:
- Guide corrective and preventive actions by analyzing data from process deviations, customer complaints, and audits, while providing in-plant support for investigations and process improvements.
- Support new product commercialization with onsite assistance during first-run trials and collaborate with the Contract Service Customer Compliance Lead to establish relevant policies and procedures.
- Provide off-hour operational support for food safety and quality incidents, determining product status until a formal review can be completed by the Quality Assurance team during normal hours.
- Oversee key programs, including the sample retain program, environmental monitoring, and allergen validation, ensuring proper management of sample inventory and corrective actions.
- Act as a technical resource across departments, complete HACCP reviews for new equipment and significant facility modifications, and provide food safety training to staff as needed.
- Serve as backup to the Contract Service Quality Assurance Lead, authorized to determine product disposition during process deviations in collaboration with the Contract Service Customer Compliance Lead and QA Leadership.

The ideal candidate will have ( A bachelor’s degree in food science or a related field, with 2 years of quality assurance experience in a food manufacturing environment.) Familiarity with FDA regulatory compliance, food processing procedures, and GMPs is essential. This candidate should have proven leadership and excellent communication skills. Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, are required. The individual should demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and exercise independent judgment and decision-making. Experience interacting with customers or third-party auditors is required.
