Control Systems Engineering Manager

The Control Systems Engineering Manager will partner with our manufacturing and R&D teams to develop and execute long-term strategies and projects to drive technical innovation across Schneller products and processes. This role will maintain all control system assets and applications related to the Industrial Control Network (ICN), Distributed Control System (DCS), and Manufacturing Execution System (MES).
This role will support the Operations, Commercial, and R&D teams, working closely with functional leaders and subject matter experts to enhance Schneller production capabilities, improve data accessibility, and develop toolsets for more consistent product quality.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Demonstrate commitment to Schneller's values and share the organizational commitment to ensuring quality products and
Set goals and objectives for control systems functions and system architecture.
Maintain Industrial Controls Network (ICN) hardware devices. This includes various Cisco IDF switch stacks, Stratus server, and non-mission critical server and applications.
Develops custom reports and feature sets within SCADA, HMIs, and MES.
Improves existing process control strategies, instruments and control devices; researches and completes feasibility studies of new technology and process advancements; manages projects to support and improve the manufacturing of quality products, productivity and safety.
Aids in the development and commissioning of new work centers and process equipment.
Manages strategic vendors and executes CAPEX projects related to control system infrastructure.
Supports mentorship of Schneller technical & maintenance team members to be subject matter experts in process control and data analysis for compounding, coating, printing, laminating, press and embossing as well as ensuring appropriate documentation.
Willing to occasionally work outside of normal business hours, including some weekends/evenings/nights, and be available to address critical matters that may arise via phone or remote access.
Travels to evaluate and benchmark suppliers, equipment and processes and participate in training, etc. (approximately 10%).
Manages extraneous activities, cross-functional interactions, and obstacles as appropriate to support operations.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Three to five years of related engineering management/leadership experience in an industrial environment required with a preferred background in chemicals, plastics, the manufacture of functional aesthetic products, converting processes, related process equipment and techniques.
Three to five years of process control engineering using Rockwell Automation Controllogix platform, HMI development, industrial networking and advanced server virtualization and management.
Proficiency in Microsoft SQL Server and SQL query writing.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor of Science in an engineering discipline required (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical)
Proven prioritization, organization, and project management skills to achieve results.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Industrial control experience, including PLC control systems (Allen Bradley) and programming/tuning process control loops.
AutoCAD experience preferred
Highly functional in Microsoft Project, Word, and Excel and other MS Office products. Ability to effectively root cause problem solve in a deadline driven environment Knowledge of and ability to apply SPC methods.
Ability to work both self-directed and as a cross-functional team leader and team member
Knowledge of and ability to apply lean manufacturing principals.
Ability to achieve Aesthetics Inspector
To conform with US export regulations and ITAR 120.15 and EAR Part 772, incumbents for this role must be eligible for any required authorizations from the US government.
