Position Overview
Be a part of a nonprofit organization focused on empowering post-acute, assisted living, and long-term care providers to achieve excellence through leadership, professional growth, and active engagement in shaping public policy. As the Controller, you will oversee all accounting and financial operations, applying your expertise in non-profit financial management, federal grant accounting, audit and compliance. You will lead with a commitment to maintaining the organization’s financial accuracy and integrity.
Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting and financial functions
- Prepare and present financial statements in line with GAAP and non-profit standards regularly
- Lead the annual budget process, including forecasting, variance analysis, and long-term planning
- Ensure grant compliance and financial reporting adherence
- Manage cash flow, including intercompany transfers, bank reconciliations, and overseeing investment accounts
- Supervise accounting operations such as accounts payable, receivable, and general ledger management, ensuring timely closings
- Coordinate audits and compliance activities, serving as the main point of contact for external auditors
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including tax filings
- Collaborate across departments to align with organizational goals
- Provide financial training and support to staff
- Conduct data analysis for legislative initiatives and provide cost trend data to association members
- Participate in PAC activities
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA or MBA is preferred
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in a supervisory capacity
- Proficient in accounting software
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to perform all essential duties independently at an advanced level
- Demonstrated commitment to financial accuracy and integrity
- In-depth knowledge of GAAP policies and procedures
- Experience in non-profit accounting and financial management, preferably within membership-based or healthcare organizations
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Experience in financial system development
- Effective communication and time management skills
- Flexibility, teamwork, and strong interpersonal skills
- Capable of working independently with minimal supervision
Compensation
- Salary: $90,000 - $125,000
- Robust benefits
- 401K with 5% profit sharing after 3 years vested
- 15 days PTO, 12 sick days, 3 Personal days and holidays
