Job Summary:
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller is a senior level executive responsible for overseeing all financial operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the organization's financial reporting, and compliance with financial regulations and standards. The Controller provides strategic financial guidance to senior management and is responsible for cash management, implementing financial controls, preparing financial statements, investor reporting, loan compliance, payroll and accounts payable.
Essential Job Requirements:
Financial Management:
- Manage all accounting operations including Payroll, A/R, A/P, and GL.
- Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.
- Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting.
- Support budget and forecasting activities.
- Analyze and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner.
- Clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Prepare investor communications and reporting.
- Monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership informed.
- Assist in the coordination and preparation of the budget and financial forecasts.
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.
- Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Oversee the coordination and activities of independent auditors.
- Develop and maintain systems of internal controls to safeguard financial assets.
- Provide leadership and support to accounts receivable and accounts payable departments.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate department staff.
- Support staff development and manage workload distribution.
- Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach.
- BA in accounting/finance required, MA preferred.
- CPA strongly preferred.
- 10+ years (for-profit) accounting experience.
- Senior Housing or Multi site Healthcare experience
- Proven experience as a controller or similar role, with a strong background in fiscal management and accounting.
- Ability to effectively communicate (written and verbally) with residents, families, staff and the public
- Must have compassion for and desire to work with the elderly.
- Must meet all State health requirements.
- Must be able to perform duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must pass criminal background check.
- Experience with accounting software programs.
