Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or Master's in Accounting highly preferred)
- Minimum of 5-7 years of accounting experience within the construction industry, with expertise in construction accounting principles
- Deep understanding of construction-specific financial processes, including job costing, WIP accounting, revenue recognition, and cost-to-complete methods
- Experience using construction accounting software (e.g., Sage 300 Construction, Viewpoint Vista, Procore, or QuickBooks Contractor Edition) and strong Excel skills for financial analysis
- Familiarity with AIA billing, subcontractor management, and compliance with industry-specific regulations, such as lien waivers and retainage
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage high volumes of project data and deadlines
- Proven experience in leading and developing accounting teams within a construction environment
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across project management, operations, and executive teams
- Full-time, on-site availability required, supporting a hands-on approach to managing project financials and team oversight

responsibilities:
- Manage all financial aspects of construction projects, including job costing, WIP (work-in-progress) reporting, and budget tracking to ensure accuracy and alignment with project goals
- Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, with a focus on construction-specific metrics and reporting
- Develop and enforce internal controls related to project accounting, procurement, and payroll to safeguard company assets and maintain compliance with construction industry standards
- Supervise accounting staff, including project accountants, payroll specialists, and AP/AR clerks, ensuring they are equipped to handle the unique demands of construction accounting
- Collaborate with project managers to monitor project budgets, assess profitability, and adjust financial strategies as projects evolve
- Manage cash flow projections and reporting to support project funding needs and ensure timely payments to subcontractors and vendors
- Conduct regular reviews of job costing and WIP reports, providing insights on project performance and identifying potential cost overruns or profitability challenges
- Prepare and present financial reports to senior leadership, analyzing construction-specific KPIs such as over/under billings, labor productivity, and project profitability
- Work closely with external auditors to support audits, particularly on construction-specific areas such as contract revenue recognition, cost allocations, and lien compliance
- Continually improve accounting processes, focusing on construction software integration, cost control, and streamlined workflows to optimize project financial management
