Job Details
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.
Accounting Close & General Ledger Oversight: In accordance with GAAP, ownership of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of financial data while managing internal and external deadlines.
Team Management and Development: Recruit, manage, and mentor the accounting team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. Ensure staff development through training, performance evaluations, and regular feedback.
Oversight of Tax Compliance: Manage and oversee all tax-related activities in coordination with SPS’s outside CPA firm, ensuring compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations.
External Audit Management: Direct and coordinate the external audit process with the outside auditing firm, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting and compliance with regulatory standards.
Treasury Management: Oversee treasury functions, including cash management, banking & lending relationships, and optimizing liquidity while minimizing financial risks.
Financial Reporting and Analysis: Assisting with the budgeting and forecasting processes, providing insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) Support: Provide financial leadership and support for M&A activities, including conducting financial due diligence, and integrating acquired entities into the company’s financial systems. Collaborate with the CFO and other senior executives to assess the financial impact of M&A transactions and develop strategies to optimize the financial performance of newly acquired businesses.
Strategic Financial Planning: Collaborate with the CFO and other executives to develop financial strategies that align with the company’s goals. Analyze financial performance and provide recommendations to improve profitability.
Compliance and Best Practices: Stay abreast of industry changes and current tax/accounting laws to ensure compliance and implement best practices in financial management.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; a CPA certification is required.
A minimum of ten years of executive-level experience in finance and accounting roles. Experience with private equity and/or healthcare industry preferred.
Strong proficiency in the MS Office Suite (Excel) and expert ERP experience (NetSuite preferred).
Strong knowledge of tax laws, GAAP, and financial reporting standards.
Proven experience in managing external audits and relationships with CPA firms.
Demonstrated expertise in treasury management, including cash flow analysis and financial risk management.
Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to develop and manage a high-performing team.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, make strategic decisions, and adapt to change.
Excellent communication and analytical skills.
Supervision
Serve as a mentor in developing department staff to ensure performance standards are maintained, employees feel supported, recognized and employees are held accountable through performance reviews, coaching and regular feedback.
Promotes teamwork and professional interpersonal relationships within the department, other departments, and other managers.
Sees to department staffing needs (e.g. interviewing, hiring, new hire and ongoing training, annual evaluations, creating and maintaining job descriptions, etc.).
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, make decisions, and delegate appropriately.
Adapt to change while being a champion of change management initiatives.
